On the
9th of June I did my
comeback in Bergen.
I was very nervous before
the race and I hoped
to walk 1.32 and qualify
for the European Championship.
It was the national
championship and a nations
match against Latvia,
Lithuania and Sweden.
We were very lucky with
the race conditions,
it was 23 degrees, sunny
and very little wind.
Stephan told me to start
easy and then pass 10km
in 46 minutes. I walked
22.58 for the first
5km and then passed
10km in 45.46. I felt
fine and Stephan told
me to continue in this
pace. The next 5km I
walked 22.34 and my
legs started to be very
tired. Still I was able
to walk faster the last
5km (22.24) and I finished
my first 20km since
October 2004 in 1.30:45!!!!
I think you all can
believe that I was very
happy to walk such a
time in my comeback,
that came more than
two months later than
planned due to a difficult
spring with a bad injury.
After
I did my comeback, I
was very tired and my
muscles were very sore.
It was good to have
some easy days at home
before we went to St.Moritz
for altitude training.
It feels
very good to be back
in St.Moritz. Here it's
always good for me to
be, I love the nature
and I always find inner
peace here. St.Moritz
is at altitude (1770
meter over sea level),
but because of all the
high mountains around
the valley, I never
have a feeling of being
in altitude.
We are
already ten days in
St.Moritz, the time
is really flying. My
training is coming along
very well and I am feeling
better every day. Still
I am doing some alternative
training, instead of
running through the
beautiful forests in
and around St.Moritz.
My brother Erik Tysse
is also here and yesterday
Peter Korcok and Matej
Toth from Slovakia came.
On Thursday Melanie
Seeger from Germany
will come, too. Then
we will be five race
walkers among a lot
of international runners.
The Norwegian runners
Marius Bakken and Bjørnar
Kristensen and the Norwegian
Canoeing Team, with
the Olympic Champion
Eirik Veraas Larsen,
are also in St.Moritz.
On the picture you can
see the Canoers, Erik
and I before a afternoon
workout. The boys went
running and I did some
alternative training!
