Since
the 15th of
February we
have been up
in Flagstaff
for altitude
training. When
we came up here
it was a lot
of snow, but
the roads were
free and we
had good training
conditions.
Only for two
days we had
to wait some
hours to train.
That was not
a problem since
both Erik and
I just had one
training session
on those days.
The last two
weeks we have
a had a lot
of sun, some
cold winds and
temperatures
between -1 and
+ 17!!
Before
the training
camp I was very
unsure about
how my training
would be at
altitude this
time, considering
how the winter
had been for
me. I surprised
myself by training
almost at the
same level as
last year. I
even have been
training more.
And because
of this I will
not go to the
first IAAF Challenge
in Chihuahua,
Mexico, with
fresh legs!
:-) But for
me it will be
an important
hard workout
and I will only
focus on myself
and then see
what result
will come out
at the end!
Erik
will also join
me on the trip
to Mexico, it
will be his
first race ever
in altitude!
He has been
training well,
and much, too.
So I guess he
won't have the
freshest legs
either. :-)
